Problem

You cannot install this payroll product to the folder selected. You must check the name of your payroll product and the installed location. Error:- 1603 Fatal Error during installtion. Consult windows installer help(msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.

When trying to install/update IRIS Payroll Business or Bureau Payroll you get the error:

You cannot install this product to the folder selected. You must check the name of your payroll product and the installed location

followed by:

Resolution

The file “Intex.drv” in the installation folder is causing this error.

Open the installation folder (Right click on the payroll shortcut and click “Properties” to check the folder location)

Find the file Intex.drv in the list and delete.

Re-run the installation and everything will go through correctly.

Alternatively, if the 1603 error is accompanied by error 1706: No Valid Source, click here.
