IRIS, the largest privately owned software business in the UK,
has announced the acquisition of Drummohr Technology Ltd,
developers of the ‘Tax Assistant’ range of personal and corporation
tax software.
The acquisition marks a further step forward
towards IRIS’ goal to revolutionise the accountancy profession with
a range of quality solutions to suit every size and type of
practice.
The acquisition is good news for all Drummohr
customers as it will provide them with
access to the resources and investment of a
major software house that is committed to continuous enhancement of
its product and service offerings.
IRIS (www.iris.co.uk) respects that Drummohr
is the preferred choice of many tax professionals and there are no
plans to consolidate the product range. The strategy will be
that of sustained investment and the introduction of new products
where appropriate, as evidenced with PTP tax software, since its
acquisition in 2006.
Drummohr has an excellent reputation for its
easy to use and reliable software. In the most recent Independent
survey carried out by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales, in the Personal Tax category, ‘Tax Assistant’
scored a 100% recommendation rate, which as the report says ‘is an
achievement unmatched’ by any other product in the 2007 survey.
Drummohr was also honoured in 2007 as winner of the Business
Software Satisfaction Awards in the category tax and practice.
Martin Leuw, CEO of IRIS; recognised as the
market leader in integrated application software for medium sized
professional accountancy and tax practices with its own brand of
software, commented: “The product portfolios of Drummohr and IRIS
are entirely complementary. Drummohr has a first class reputation
for its tax software and for the high quality of its customer
support services. By adding the ‘Tax Assistant’ software to the
IRIS range, we are able to offer an unparalleled wealth of
knowledge and experience of this specialist sector. This will
undoubtedly strengthen our ability to satisfy the widest range of
needs.”
Drummohr Technology was established in 1994 by
Stuart Ritchie and Dr. Kenneth Ritchie and the founders will remain
actively involved in the future development of the solution which
will now draw upon the significant resources of the IRIS
Accountancy Practice Division.
Stuart Ritchie commented: “We are
delighted that Drummohr has become part of the IRIS Group and we
are confident that they will provide a safe future for our tax
software. For some time, we have been searching for a way to
develop the business further as part of a larger organisation with
the resources, service commitment and culture to maintain our
favourable position in the market. IRIS will ensure that we can
respond to the massive legislative and technological demands placed
on tax software developers.”
“We have been particularly impressed that in
all previous IRIS acquisitions the Group’s emphasis has always been
on ensuring “business as usual” for existing customers and we look
forward to the development of the product range with the support
and resources that IRIS can provide.”
