According to internet filing statistics for 2007, just released
by HMRC, IRIS customers have set a new record, filing over 1
million internet tax returns using the Group’s tax software
packages, IRIS Personal Tax, Business Tax and Trust Tax
(www.iris.co.uk) and PTP Tax Return, Partnership Return and Trust
Return (ptpsoftware.co.uk).
The exact number of returns filed including
individual, partnership and trust, stands at 1,111,349.
This figure is higher than the total number of
returns filed using the HMRC online service and represents the
lion’s share, 40% of all tax returns filed, using third party
software.
Interestingly, the statistics suggest that
despite the best of intentions to file tax returns at a steady pace
throughout the year, 50% of the returns filed using IRIS Software
took place in just one month of the year – January. This is as many
as they filed during the 9 month period from April through to
December.
IRIS customers have always shown themselves to
be at the forefront of the internet filing revolution and should
cope with ease to meet the mandatory internet filing for agents
brought in by the Carter’ reforms.
