Job Summary

Accounts assistant role, duties and responsibilities

  • Reconciliation of the Company Bank accounts on a weekly basis including posting DD and standing order payments
  • Being the direct liaison with the CPMS Bureau team and the lead BACS person
  • Processing circa 100 BACS payments a month
  • Resolving all BACS issues with BACS and Natwest Bank
  • Monthly Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Credit control reporting to group on a monthly basis and as requested
  • Monthly Purchase ledger reconciliations
  • Weekly review and authorisation of the purchase ledger BACS
  • Sales order reconciliation and analysis
  • Sales Invoice reconciliations and analysis for forecasting
  • Updating monthly KPI’s once month end has closed
  • Updating and managing the Marketing Budget analysis including monthly meetings with the Finance team to discuss actuals against budget
  • Verifying calculations working with the Accounts system
  • Maintaining the Fixed asset registers and reporting Capital expenditure on a monthly basis to Group
  • Support the General Admin team as needed

Person Specification

Typical qualities of a successful Accounts Assistant include:

  • Strong understanding of the workings of an office
  • Basic understanding of accountancy and book-keeping
  • Would hold or be working towards an AAT certificate or related accountancy qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – to deal with customers and external contacts
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work to, and sometime implement own  processes
