Job Summary

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to be part of the test team responsible for testing all Payroll and HR products, developing detailed test specs and reporting on issues and progress.

Main Responsibilities

Test Specifications

  • Create low level test specs based on Functional Specification.
  • Calculate and record expected results.
  • Create and maintain test reports
  • Continuously review and update existing Regression Test Specifications



  • Test software amendments for Change Requests.
  • Test software amendments with detailed test specifications.
  • Test defect and corrective action fixes.
  • Log and report on successes and failures
  • To record and provide QA testing information as requested, to the QA Manager.


Help Files and Documentation

  • Give input to release notes and on-line help.


HMRC Payroll Standard / Internet Recognition

  • Manage overall process for relevant Product
  • Perform test scenarios if required.


Feedback review

  • Analyse  issues reported by Support and amend relevant test specifications if required.

  • Payroll qualification desirable
  • ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing preferable but not essential.


  • Knowledge of Payroll legislation
  • Sound Technical Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems/Microsoft Office etc. and some exposure to SQL and Access.
  • Experience of working within a Software Development Lifecycle
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn how to create Automated test scripts
