Job Summary

An experienced Business Analyst with SQL and DBA skills is required to join a newly establish Business Intelligence Centre of Excellence (BI CoE) team as part of a major transformation programme of work to deliver group wide systems and trusted data, enabling improved customer experience, simplified processes and insight driven decision-making.

A key part of this role is to develop new metrics focused around trialists, conversion rates and attrition but also to enhance the current MI capability that covers; customer base, loses/new business, ARPC/ARPU, discounting, product & customer analysis. The role will also include some work around SQL scripting & database administrations tasks to support the data warehouse.

You will work as part of a team of BI team developing new insight and reports but also working with end users to extend the overall BI capability across the business.


Main responsibilities 

It is expected that the majority of time, at least 80%, will be spent:

  • Liaising with key stakeholders to develop & support new models
  • Support the development of key business KPI’s, including customer attrition/retention, ARPU and customer acquisition cost
  • Development of additional KPI’s, including trialists, conversion rates, product penetration and market share data
  • Supporting existing models & key business events e.g. month end
  • Apply best practice to the data capture, structure, management, documentation, reporting and analysis to build credibility in the numbers
  • Work with the finance team to identify opportunities to automate and enhance existing reporting through use of the data warehouse
  • Pass on skills and experience to IRIS staff and in particular Finance to enhance the overall BI capability within the company with a focus on “self-service”

The remainder of the time will be ensuring the consistency and integrity of the data warehouse:

  • Support the operations team that undertake daily checklist and data warehouse administration tasks
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers and system integrators as required
  • Maintain source library version control and system documentation
  • DBA duties for the data warehouse including backups, indexing, performance

Ensure critical business processes are undertaken to maintain data quality, consistency & compliance

Third party vendors and service providers.


Educated to degree level

Good English, Maths and IT

Business Intelligence, data modelling and SQL accreditation or demonstrable equivalent experience.



  • At least 3 years in a similar role
  • Financial reporting & analysis
  • Expert Knowledge of Excel, preferably with knowledge of PowerPivot and DAX
  • Experience of working to an Agile project methodology & SDLC
  • SQL Scripting & building ETL scripts
  • MS-SQL to System Admin level
  • Experience of data warehouse design and good understanding of the main methodologies and schemas; Kimball, Star



  • Experience of data analytics tools such as Power BI, Tabular
  • Experience working in the software or similar sector
