Job Summary

We are recruiting a Product Manager within IRIS; responsible and accountable for managing the feature completeness, adherence to legislation and usability of IRIS’ cloud compliance products. The remit includes both short term definition of new product releases based on customer requirements, market demand and competitive analysis and setting in place the long term product roadmap.

The role participates in the development of product strategy and develops tools, training and collateral to ensure sales and channel readiness. This position requires close interaction with the rest of Product Management, Product Marketing, Marketing Communications, Sales Management, Support and Engineering.



Main Responsibilities

As a contributor to the Cloud division the Product Manager will be responsible and accountable for delivering the product roadmap for cloud based compliance products, ensuring they are functionally competitive and legislatively complete.

Taking input from sales, customers, marketing and analysts, the Product Manager will gather the information and data points that justify and quantify the business return for making any product investment through a business case. Most often this is justified on Return On Investment (ROI) but also has to take into consideration strategic implications and customer satisfaction (Net Promoter Score - NPS). The Product Manager owns the development and delivery of the product business case, subsequent marketing requirement documents, and specification into the development team.

Once product investment is approved the Product Manager will ensure that a clear project plan is put in place to ensure the delivery of the product. This will involve working closely with all internal stakeholders including development, support, sales and marketing to ensure that all aspects of the product delivery is understood, defined and measurable. The Product Manager then co-ordinates all this activity using a clearly documented product roadmap. In doing so he/she clearly articulates to all stakeholders the timescales and details of product release and is responsible for then delivering on this.

The Product Manager is a high profile role and will be viewed as such by internal staff and external customers. The Product Manager is the main customer advocate for the product, and is seen as the ‘mini-CEO’ for their responsible products and/or solution.

Working with fellow product management, sales, channel marketing, corporate marketing, marketing communications, technical support, development, finance, operations and other stakeholders to ensure that product is effectively introduced and sustained in the market

Duties include:-

Working with client sites to generate customer success stories

Develop and document, with stakeholder buy-in, the roadmap for their products/solutions, business case and ROI associated with any product investment.

Present the business case and ROI of product investment to senior management

Maintain an intimate understanding of the market, competitive threats and new market opportunities using this to develop the product vision and roadmap.

Maintain ongoing close relationship with customers for his/her product to ensure intimate understanding of customer need

Size the opportunity of new market opportunities together with SWOT of IRIS’s position.

Produce market requirement documents outlining the market and customer requirements of current and future product sets

Creation of product requirements documents that specify customer and technical requirements for current and future product sets.

Agree and sign off with development the Product Requirements Document and High Level Design specifications and timescales.

Build and maintain a product roadmap in line with the division’s product strategy and direction.

Identify, raise and manage any issues associated with the roadmap with key stakeholders

Be accountable for ensuring the success of existing/new products and ongoing releases.

Degree level education 




Experience of working with a desktop or cloud tax or accounts production product

Prior experience of product marketing and product management

Knowledge of the accountancy practice software market is desirable

Experience and demonstrable knowledge of Accounting systems
