Job Summary

To test specific allocated requirements and bug fixes as part of a wider test strategy, including test plan creation, but primarily focused on test case design and test case execution, including recording results and defects in the appropriate tool and automating the test plans created. Completes work items as part of a formal software development lifecycle and delivers software to high quality and within agreed timescales.

Main Responsibilities

• You will perform functional, automated and exploratory testing of patches using a risk based strategy within agreed timescales and to a high quality standard.

• You will work with Developers to ensure completion of specified work and achieve the best quality product.

• You will advise Developers on the appropriate level of testing through the whole development lifecycle.

• You will collaborate with Product Owners regarding specifications and the breakdown and delivery of features.

• You will use your experience and testing techniques to continually improve all aspects of development and of the testing lifecycle.

• You will be responsible for creating an end-to-end test plan; executing the plan and managing all activities in the plan to ensure that all the objectives are met and that the solution works as expected.

• You will automate the testing on a daily basis and work with the Developer in Test to ensure that the automation coverage is increasing

• You will strive to improve knowledge, design and implementation of automated tests in order to ensure the best coverage while avoiding duplications.

• Produce accurate estimates for assigned testing tasks and work towards delivery of each agreed sprint deadline

• Achieve agreed productivity targets in order to ensure test tasks are delivered to schedule. Reporting as early as possible to team lead/manager where deliverables cannot be met.

• Timely and accurate reporting of assigned task status as required by Team Leader/Manager

• Escalate all issues in a timely fashion

• Ensure adherence to internal software processes as required by team leader/manager

• You will strive for quality and work to ensure the customer logging rate is reduced each month

• You will test in terms of functionality, performance, reliability, stability and security

ISEB Testing Foundation or equivalent – desirable

Payroll qualifications – desirable



• Some experience of automation or the technical aptitude to pick this up through training

• 2+ years in testing web based applications

• Experience of working in an agile environment

• Experience of team based testing approach.

• General familiarity with current technologies and direction of the software industry.
