Job Summary

Responsible for the day to day running and maintenance of the existing infrastructure for the business.

Feed into the continual service improvement plan for the department to recommend and plan improvements to the infrastructure.

Lead projects to implement improvements to the infrastructure. Any changes should be in line with the change control process in place with risks highlighted and communicated effectively.

Assist in resolving incidents involving ICT systems across the company, as well as fulfilling service requests to the user base.

Where necessary provide 3rd line telephone, web, IM and email support to users to enable them to make effective use of systems.

To provide 3rd line support, operation and control of all equipment within an IT and telecommunications network infrastructure.

Ensure that internal SLA`s and ITIL processes are followed and completed within required timescales.

Have a firm grasp of change management and notifications of any alterations to the network including maintenance windows.

Log all issues as they come in and prioritise them accordingly. As these are worked on they must be updated to ensure effective communication back to the team.

As an ambassador of the IT team, build and develop relationships within the business and help to inspire confidence in the department.

Lead by example as a senior member of the team. Mentoring and tutorage will be a necessary part of the role. In the IT Manager’s absence there will be an element of covering their duties.

Ensure thorough documentation of the infrastructure and the applications.

Ensure processes are followed when carrying out specific tasks. This will include updating them when necessary.

To lead and assist in projects within the IT team, such as office moves/relocations and back end system upgrades.

Carry out system maintenance in the form of windows updates, hardware firmware updates or other planned work. Inevitably this might fall outside of standard hours of work.

Future potential work streams include Office 365 migration, Windows 10 rollout, migrating services to the Azure platform. The candidate will be expected to contribute extensively to these as part of the overall IT Strategy.

Application support (Office 2013, Lync 2013)

Troubleshooting of internal software

Hardware maintenance including Dell Servers, Storage, Load balancers

Telephony - Avaya Phone system

Supporting Microsoft cloud platform. Inclusive of Azure AD Services.

Exchange 2013 administration -> migration to Office 365

SharePoint 2010/2013 administration -> migration to Office 365

System Centre 2012 – Config Manager, Operations Manager, Service Manager configuration/administration.

Desktop OS support including Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Key Relationships

Will need to create good working relationships with:

• IT department

• All internal users including Exec committee.

• External suppliers

Qualifications

MCSA required.

MCSE preferred.

Experience

• 5 years’ experience working within a support environment.

• 3 years networking experience.

• Experience of Microsoft Cloud Platform and SaaS, inclusive of Office 365 and Azure.

• Extensive experience of maintaining Windows Server 2008 and 2012

• Experience of Hyper-V management and cluster management.

• Experience of server installations.

• Experience of network infrastructure support, inclusive of Cisco switches and routers on an MPLS network.

• Extensive experience in supporting Windows Desktop OS’.

• Experience of working within SLA and ITIL defined businesses.

• Experience of task management and working within a team environment.

• Experience of working independently and being able to organise the workload.

• Experience of effective documentation of systems and processes.

 

Desirable

• Experience of Avaya telephone system.

• Experience of Microsoft System Centre, including:

Operations manager

Service manager

Configuration manager

• Where necessary the ability to liaise appropriately with 3rd party suppliers to ensure the best possible service is being delivered.
