£10bn will be spent online during Christmas this year

Over 50% of all Christmas spend will be online this year, according to a recent study. This means that around £10bn will be available for online retailers over the festive period.

According to recent figures the average individual spend for presents and Christmas items is £375 this year, adding up to a total UK figure of over £18bn.

This year will be the first time that over 50% of all Christmas spend will be taking place online. With events such as Cyber Monday where online shoppers are offered major discounts and deals for a limited period, and the increasing amount of choice online, it is easy to see why.

A recent study found that 63% of shoppers last year were disappointed with an element of their online shopping. 33% stated complicated check out procedures as the most annoying element of online shopping, with 28% listing websites being too slow to load.
