Yesterday, the IRIS Payroll Star Awards were announced at the IRIS and Earnie Payroll Conference. Congratulations to the winners!

Attending the event was over 150 payroll professionals from various different industries, all looking to learn, share and network.

The IRIS Payroll Star Awards were created to help recognise the contribution that payroll professionals make in helping businesses and employees throughout the UK.

Managing payroll and other aspects including auto enrolment is by no means a glamourous job and this is why at IRIS, we felt it necessary to recognise those, sometimes unsung, stars of payroll.

Some of the qualities that we were looking for when assessing all of the nominations were:

  • Embracing new technologies to save time and increase efficiencies
  • Going the extra mile in providing excellent service to clients and employees
  • Building closer working relationships with other times within the business

So without further ado, here are the two very deserving winners of the first ever IRIS Payroll Star Awards:

Business award: Zekarias Dubale of Westminster Electrical

Reasons for nomination:

  • Implemented IRIS OpenPayslips to save money
  • Streamlined payroll process read for auto enrolment staging
  • Added cost centre data to Earnie and integrated this with the ERP system to that Westminster Electrical can report on costs per branch and department. This has been instrumental to a business restructuring process

Accountant/Bureau award: Christine Davis of Graeme Bruce and Partners

Reasons for nomination:

  • Giving excellent service to clients - always working around payroll deadlines and clients holidays. She providers her mobile number to smaller clients so they aren't tied to standard business hours.
  • Christine is dedicated to payroll and keeping up-to-date with the latest information - she was actually at the conference on her day off!

We would like this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination, it is great to see such high levels of innovation and efficiency in the payroll industry.
