Who is managing your payroll? Meet our team

Our award-winning managed payroll service supports over 1,200 customers, produces 60,000 payslips per month and has an NPS score of 67.

Who are the people that make our managed payroll service so special? We recently sat down with our Managed Payroll Services Director, Steve Hawley, to find out more.

What is managed payroll and why is it important?

Managed payroll is essentially when businesses outsource their payroll responsibility to a third party, in essence making them their payroll department.

Our managed payroll service handles everything from processing payments to keeping our customers compliant with the latest legislation.

More and more organisations are outsourcing their payroll due to factors such as Real-Time Information, pensions, auto enrolment and GDPR which are creating a minefield of confusion and outsourcing payroll simply takes away the risk and headache for a lot of customers.

GP surgeries benefit because their salary bandings make payroll very complicated, construction companies benefit because we handle their CIS requirements, small business owners benefit because we take away their burden and large companies also benefit as their holiday pay calculations get quite complex.

Basically, all organisations can benefit from outsourced payroll, especially when you consider that organisations managing payroll in-house spend on average 18% more than those that outsource.

What does an average day look like for you?

Every day is different for me and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 

My role is to drive payroll accuracy and efficiency within our bureau operations whilst making sure our customers are happy and the delivery teams are engaged in what they do. 

Also, add in the complexities of GDPR and other compliance requirements and there really isn’t such a thing as an average day.

Furthermore, I pride myself on being a very customer-focused individual and since our customers pay us for a service, I always want to ensure the service they get surpasses what they expected, that’s a huge priority for me.

Why are we so successful as an outsourced payroll service provider?

All of our bureau staff are CIPP Qualified or working towards it.

The level of accuracy, professionalism and particularly the extra steps they go through for customers is what sets us apart.

We’re very lucky to have some exceptionally talented people working in our managed services centres, not only from a knowledge perspective but also from a customer success angle.  

If a customer has hit an issue, our teams stop at nothing to ensure that every individual paid by us goes to the bank and their salary is there.

Our outsourced solution is ever-expanding, we’re always taking on new customers and growing.

We have enhancements to our service being developed but all I can say is watch the space because we have some exciting things coming!
