IRIS payroll software passes one million RTI submissions milestone but HMRC says many have still not made the switch

IRIS Software has announced that over one million PAYE submissions have been successfully made using its payroll software since the introduction of Real Time Information (RTI) on 6 April 2013. This indicates that today around 14% of all RTI compliant payroll schemes are using IRIS solutions, making a significant dent in a competitive market dominated by legacy solutions providers.

Across the market as a whole, however, many businesses are still having issues complying with the RTI legislation. HMRC recently released figures announcing that up to 300,000 PAYE schemes have so far failed to make the switch. The tax authority has been contacting these businesses, urging them to file in real time.

RTI was introduced in April 2013 and is widely regarded as the biggest single change to payroll since PAYE was introduced in 1944. The legislation means that employers have to submit records to HMRC “on or before” each payroll run, rather than annually at year-end.

Mark Paraskeva, CEO of IRIS SME Division, said “passing the one million submissions mark is an excellent achievement for IRIS. The strength of our position in the market is highlighted by the fact that today one in seven of all PAYE schemes complying with RTI do so using our payroll software.”

“We pride ourselves on offering businesses a comprehensive solution to enable them to prepare for RTI. This includes our complete range of RTI compliant payroll software, as well as free guides, an advice line, health check and free and paid for-training.

IRIS is eager to highlight to businesses the key role it can play in driving up overall compliance levels. “In total, we helped nearly 30,000 employers and payroll professionals in the run up to RTI,” he added.

”We are still being contacted by hundreds of businesses that are finding it difficult to comply with the legislation,” said Paraskeva. “We want to make it clear to them that even though the deadline has passed, we are still here to help them achieve compliance and we are continuing to offer our complete solution to any business that needs help.”
