Problem It has been identified that when trying to access IRIS using a network version the user may encounter the following error:

SQL Server Does Not Exist Or Access Denied; 0x80004005

The problem is usually caused by an improperly configured SQL server or the firewall on the server.
Resolution This is normally caused by any or a combination of the following

  • The SQL Server Network Protocols
  • The SQL Server being set to (local) on a network version
  • The Windows Firewall blocking access
  • The SQL Server Browser not running
