Problem
We have identified a problem after installing IRIS Docs 6.16.160 Users are receiving the error message "INVU ECM Service is Unreachable"
Resolution

Firstly please ensure the INVU ECM Service is running/has been restarted on the server before following the steps below.

If Individual Users receive this error please follow the steps below:

  • Open Microsoft Outlook | File | Options | Add-ins | Click Go | Highlight ‘IRIS Outlook 2010 Email Assistant for IRIS Docs’ | Click Remove
  • Close Outlook and IRIS Docs
  • Click Start | In Search Programmes and Files Type %appdata% | Press Enter | Double click on INVU | If there is a file with a .iac file extension delete this file. (you will need to turn on file extensions if not on already)
  • Open Control Panel | Programs & Features | Uninstall IRIS Email Assistant

  • Reopen IRIS Docs. Click OK to the pop-ups asking to install the email assistant.
  • Reopen Outlook

If All Users are receiving this error message this will require a re-install of the ECM Service. Please follow the steps below:

  • Connect onto the server where the main installation of IRIS Docs is
  • Browse to the following location C:\Program Files (x86)\INVU Services Ltd\Invu ECM Services
  • Please copy this file onto your Desktop
  • Open Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features | Highlight INVU ECM Services and Uninstall
  • Open the IRIS Docs 6.16 Installation Folder and browse to the following location series6server\series6\components\ECMService
  • Right click on the setup file and run as admin
  • Once this has installed please browse back to the following location C:\Program Files (x86)\INVU Services Ltd\Invu ECM Services
  • Rename the INVU.EC2.Services.ECM2.WindowsHost.exe file to old and copy back the original into the location. It should show as below
  • It is required also to reboot the server when possible for the changes to be made effect. We have noticed times may vary for the service to be working again for all users however the next working day this should be running for all users by applying the steps.
  • We also suggest you have the latest version of the IRIS Open Space Connector installed 2.12.20. This is available to download in the IRIS Docs 6.16 Installation folder| IRIS Open Space Connector | Please click HERE for a guide on how to install this.
