Problem
Resolution
There is a DEFECT happening in version 25.2.0 (and a fix to this is now out. Update to IRIS version 25.3 released in early October 2025). Where if you have:
a) Partnership Business originally and it was changed to a Sole Trade type business
b) Sole Trade business originally and it was changed to a Partnership type business
IF it is Partnership but with only one partner involved – then read this KB: https://www.iris.co.uk/support/knowledgebase/kb/personal-tax-2025-reports-crashing-on-version-25-2-partnerships-with-1-partner/
This change of trade type can cause PT to crash when you try and generate any report (Draft/Final return, Tax comp etc) or when you click the magnifying glass to access Farmers Averaging.
There are possible fixes/workarounds listed here:
Warning: Changing and removing of FROM/TO dates could change the automated calculation of profits because they are based on these dates AND also prior years data. If the profit has changed then other automated calculations like ‘Farmers averaging’ can be affected as well. Removing a from date etc allows you to run a report, then just add back the FROM date etc and await the planned fix in version 25.3 this Autumn 2025.
If a Partnership and changed to a Sole trader– Open the trade at the top of the screen and IF its still set to a Partnership type, then change this to Sole trader type and it will now load the reports. IF this dosnt work then go to Related/Involvement/client name/view the FROM/TO dates of the sole trader and also the employees. (Note: It may still show a ‘Partnership’ type but as there is only ‘1 partner’ then PT will automatically make it a sole trader for all income/profit values)
If it was a Sole Trader and changed to a Partnership – Open the trade at the top of the screen and IF its still set to a Sole trader type , then change this to Partnership type and it will now load the reports. If that did not work then look at the FROM date when it officially started as a Partnership (Go to Related/Involvement/client name/view/FROM date), this date could be causing the crashing, so using this Workaround- remove the FROM date and it may run the reports in 2025. Add it back in later. (if you have multiple partners each with their own FROM dates – remove the date closest to Year 2025 first, if that did not work ten delete next FROM date). If the removing of all the FROM dates did not work then please await a full fix from IRIS.
The IRIS Development team has investigated the issue and a fix to this is now out. Update to IRIS version 25.3 released in early October 2025.
