Personal Tax MTD: Submitted Quarters BUT HMRC side states ‘not submitted/awaiting’ (Await Sept 2026)

Problem
Resolution
August 2026: We have had reports where PT users have submitted MTD quarters to HMRC and shows as completed /accepted from the MTD screens BUT when logging into their HMRC ASA account and load the client – it shows as ‘not submitted/awaiting’ or other status which is not accepted/completed etc. Our Development team has checked this with HMRC.
HMRC have confirmed this is an issue on their side, and has been logged as a live service issue and it is not a IRIS software defect.
Issue details:
This issue occurs when a customer does two things in this sequence:
- Makes a reporting election (e.g. switching to Calendar reporting), and
- Submits their Q1 quarterly update shortly after.
Fix and interim handling
- HMRC is looking for a permanent fix (planned for September 2026).
- In the meantime, HMRC says they can automatically detect customer records that made a quarterly submission where the obligation isn’t correctly reflected and will manually correct those records over the coming weeks.
