Problem
I keep getting the error “The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication required” when trying to send a test email from my Gmail?
Resolution
Google may block sign in attempts from some apps or devices that do not use modern security standards. To resolve go to Goole Settings if this doesn’t work reset your password and put in your new password into the SMTP settings page make sure you are using port 587 with SLL ticked.
