A rural doctors’ practice is at the heart of the community for those who use. It is vital that a practice like this, runs as efficiently as possible to maintain high standards of healthcare, as well as great levels of service.

Ashcroft Surgery in Wing, outside Leighton Buzzard, is one such practice. It has 4,400 patients on its books and offers a top class service to Wing and its surrounding villages.
The practice has two doctors, a practice nurse, healthcare assistant, three dispensing staff, four receptionists and one secretary.

Practice manager Joanna Barton started using IRIS GP Payroll after it was recommended to her by other practice managers. The practice’s payroll had previously been done manually, using spread sheets, and now working everything out is much simpler.

She explained: “It took ages before and now everything is so much quicker. The ends of year requirements are so easy to complete. It’s simple. It does all the figures for you. If I need some information that is not there I can just look back over the years and it is easy to find.

“I like it because it does exactly what you ask it to do. It is very user friendly. The benefits to the practice are that it cuts down the amount of time you have to spend doing the payroll. It is able to calculate the National Insurance a well.

“IRIS software is so easy to pick up and to work with. If you make any sort of mistake it is easy to rectify. You don’t have to completely start again.

“If you do have a problem IRIS are keen to help you. Nothing is a major problem to them. They do provide you with a very personal service. It is nice to know that they are there for you if anything does happen to go wrong.

“I would definitely recommend IRIS because it saves you time and lets you concentrate on the other aspects of the job you have to do.”
