Problem

When clearing operator locks user gets the error:

error number 3044

\SBS2003\earnie32\0000data.mdb is not a valid path

NOTE: The file path shown in the error will be specific to your PC.

Resolution

This error indicates that the data file for that company cannot be located in the location payroll expects to find it.

If the error specifies 0000DATA.mdb this is not a problem. 000DATA.mdb is the demonstration company for the program and it isn’t required for normal use. Just click “OK” to the message and you should find you can now log in as normal.

Otherwise, if the file is 0001DATA.mdb or ANY OTHER NUMBER potentially the system cannot find active payroll data.

This would commonly be caused by the following:

Updates installed to the wrong location – to fix re install the latest version to the correct folder.

Move from Local to Network Setup – Some of the local data hasn’t been copied over to the network, copy the files again making sure all files called XXXXData.mdb and XXXXLog.Mdb are moved over (where X is a number).

User doesn’t have network drive mapped or is mapped to the wrong location – If the network drive mappings are missing or incorrect payroll won’t be able to find your data. Get your network administrator to map the location correctly across all workstations.

Data files have been moved or deleted – If the files have been moved or deleted you will need to move them back to the correct location. If they have been deleted you will need to replace the data files with a copy from your most recent back up.
