Problem

When attempting to open IRIS Docs user(s) receive the following error: The target machine actively refused the request

Resolution

target refused | DOCS-1541: When attempting to open IRIS Docs user(s) receive the following error: The target machine actively refused the request
Target actively refused it

If all users are experiencing this error when attempting to access IRIS Docs, this will be due to the service not being available on the server.  To correct this problem please refer to the steps below:

  • Connect onto the server where IRIS Docs is installed
  • Click Start | Run | Services.msc
  • Restart the INVU V6 Business Engine

After restarting this service users should be able to get into IRIS Docs without this error appearing.

However if this message only appears for certain users the Business Engine service will not need to be restarted, instead a configuration folder (within the roaming folder) will need to be recreated.  Please refer to the steps below to assist with this:

  • Connect onto the windows user profile
  • Close DOCS
  • Click Start | Run | Type – %appdata% click OK
  • Rename invu folder to invuold
  • Open IRIS Docs, this will prompt for the business engine to be entered (As shown below)
business engine | DOCS-1541: When attempting to open IRIS Docs user(s) receive the following error: The target machine actively refused the request
Business engine name
  • Enter the hostname of the server where IRIS Docs is installed (only the name of the server, no need for \\)
  • Click OK on any further prompts

The above steps are also applicable if other errors appear
