When trying to email from communications, an error appears 550. 5.7.1 unable to relay
Resolution

The message that appears is an error response from your SMTP, and not IRIS initiated.

Unable to relay

IRIS support cannot offer advice on SMTP but the following has been found and has worked on this issue;

  • Open the Exchange System Manager;
  • Go in Administrative Groups -> Administrative group name -> Server -> Server name -> Protocols -> SMTP;
  • Right click on Default SMTP Virtual Server -> properties;
  • Access tab -> Relay button;
  • Select “only the list bellow” and add your domain and\or IPs you do want to allow the relay and finally check  the “Allow all computers witch successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above” checkbox.

The guide HERE is the full settings in IRIS and how to access them, but you shouldn’t need to use this unless something has changed that IRIS needs
