Problem

From the tax year 13/14 and onwards, HMRC have provided IRIS with a new schema that the software will follow. The HMRC have required that an automatic calculation behind the scenes is entered into the software and if there is an appropriate figure that needs to go into box 33, then it will automatically show. In all previous years the box has been left blank so that you have been given the opportunity to enter in what you wanted to enter. However, as mentioned above HMRC have changed this from 13/14 onwards. Due to an enhancement request, users will be able to override the automated amount by selecting the tick box for ‘Do you want to override the calculated nominated income value?’ if this is selected, it will allow the user to override the calculated figure.

Resolution

This is an enhancement request that has been applied to version 11.6.0 so please ensure you download this version as it is now available. (Version 11.6.1 is now also available). In the meantime, the amount cannot be altered. However, you can make a note on page RR 4 box 39 by completing the Additional Information field in the Residence Questionnaire window. If you wish to be provided with the calculation steps then please contact support@iris.co.uk requesting this information or call the support line and choose Personal Tax and we will be only too happy to provide a breakdown for you.
