How do I setup the IRIS Workstation on a New pc? For new installations and as required for certain upgrades, each workstation that accesses IRIS Accountancy Suite needs to be configured. This can be done by running the Setup program over the network. NOTE: It is only necessary to install IRIS Workstation on a networked PC.

For workstation installs, each workstation that accesses IRIS Accountancy Suite needs to be configured.
This can be done by running the Setup.exe over the network from the shared IRIS folder on the server.

The user MUST be a Windows administrator.

At each workstation:

  1. Navigate to the shared folder on the server that holds the IRIS files; either by browsing to the folder, or by typing in the name of the shared folder.
  • The file called Setup.exe in the IRIS programs folder needs executing.
    The path will be similar to: \\servername\share\Setup.exe (replace this path with the correct path for your environment).
  1. Right-click Setup.exe and select Run as Administrator.
  2. Click Next to start checking the environment for possible issues that may prevent a successful installation.
  1. Review warnings or errors if they are presented. Click Next to continue.
  1. The PC Environment Scan checks for the correct version of Internet Explorer. Review warnings or errors if they are presented. Click Next to continue.
  1. Select the available installation options required and click Next to continue.
  1. The next scan checks for valid directories, databases and permissions. Review warnings or errors if they are presented. Click Next to continue.
  • New Installations only – this dialogue only displays on the very first workstation configured on a new installation. The dialog displays the default network path where the non-SQL data is stored.
  1. Click Next to continue.


If a different location was selected during the main installation, click Change and select it now.

  • The summary screen has an option to save the results of ALL tests performed; unless requested this is not required.  
  1. Click Install to start the Workstation Installation.
  1. The following dialog displays if the prerequisite listed is not installed. Click Install to continue.
  1. An estimated time for the installation displays. Click Install to continue.

Various dialogs display during the installation. No action is required.

  1. Click Finish to launch the IRIS Accountancy Suite Open Portal.
  • Complete the above steps for all workstations using PTP Accounts Production.
