Problem

I have created a bespoke AutoMail template. When I generate the template the font is not the same as I entered into the template. For example, I created a template with the font Arial and it is displayed in Times New Roman. IRIS Automail/Fees uses the interface of Microsoft Word to generate correspondence. To edit your own Bespoke Automail/Fees templates you will require knowledge of Microsoft Word to the level of complexity that your bespoke template requires. The IRIS support team are not Microsoft Word experts and cannot provide support, advice or maintenance services with respect to Microsoft Word. However, we have provided some documentation to help you with some of the program features.

Resolution

To ensure the font is the same on both template and generated letter you will need to amend your ‘normal’ style. Each version of word uses the ‘normal’ style to set defaults on font sizes, page margins, paragraph spacing and more. To ensure the font is the same on both template and generated letter you will need to amend the normal style:
  • Load Microsoft Word 2007/2010/2013/2016
  • The ‘Home’ tab will be selected by default. In the Styles section, right click the Normal style.
  • From the drop down menu, select Modify.
  • The modify style screen will be displayed. Click the Format button and choose font
  • Change the font to your required font. For example, Times New Roman.
  • Select ‘New documents based on this template’, click OK. The spacing goes back to normal. Making this change will mean:
  • The font that you enter on your template will be the same as the font generated.
  • The font on all other templates using the normal sytle on your computer will be changed automatically.
  • You may need to change the normal style on other computers (for the font to work correctly on other computers). Related Articles KB IAS-6936 : What Microsoft Word skills do I need to edit Fees templates?
