Problem
On preparing a return or after filing a Partnership return it is rejected with error 8205 - the entry must be valid against the UTR algorithm.
Resolution
This suggests that a UTR number is invalid or in an incorrect format for one of the partners listed on the Partnership statement. A valid UTR number is required for the partnership and for each of the individual partners.
Print preview the Partnership return and check the Partnership Statement section to ensure that all UTRs for the partners are showing as expected. If any UTRs show as zeroes, please revisit the Profit Allocation screen within the Partnership Tax Return to trigger a refresh, ensuring that the tax returns are not locked for FBI (both the Partnership and Individuals).
