Problem
Resolution
To indicate a company is close company with dividends (Only if the PT client who you are entering the data for is set as a DIRECTOR role). – open the company under the ‘Client maintenance’ screen – on the far right tick ‘close company’ which in turn un-greys out the two boxes in PT employment (if a Director role).
NOTE: Once you have applied the applicable fixes from the list below – remember to regenerate the tax return and submit that (and not re-submit the original one)
When entering employment data for PT clients from a Close Company with no dividends values – you get this warning below and a ‘EMP7.3 must be present if (SA102: Was this a close company) equals Yes’ error when generating. This is fixed in the version 26.1.10.60 May 2026 Service pack.
Get warning: ‘EMP7.2 must be present if sa102 was this company a close company equals ‘yes’ or when submitting 3001 8664. Find the business in PT and view it and check the ‘Registered Number’ box is filled in as this requires a entry and it will not accept ‘NA’. Click Save and regenerate the tax return (See image below as a example for a ‘non client business’)

Error when generating: ‘MTR EMP7.3 is greater then 0.00 etc’ – review the dividend entry and remove all non full £ entries like pennies eg 0.50p. Ensure its a full £ entry.
What the screen looks like if ticked close company and is a director.
