Problem
Resolution
There is a known random MTD issue where Residential loan and Commercial loan expense Type 16/17 will not be showing or shows incorrect in the MTD screens but show correctly in the PT screens and Tax Comp. If its not linked to the type 16/17 expense then still use the workaround methods below.
This can affect individual clients and especially JOINT POPERTY links where a property is split like for 50/50%. This is being investigated by the IRIS Development team and we shall update this KB once we have further news.
The known issues for Residential loan and Commercial loan expense for Type 16 and 17 in MTD:
- The values are omitted from the MTD screens either for all clients or just one partner
- The values are incorrect from the MTD screens either for all clients or just one partner. For example: The values are showing as a incorrect 100% claim for the partners when it should be 50/50% split (its ignored the % split in PT)
Either wait for our Development team for a release date of a fix OR apply these workarounds
a. Re-import the data:
- Delete the affected specific loan entry on the PT expense screen – if its JOINT PROPERTY then make sure its gone from all partners (deleting it from the 1st client you uploaded the CSV should automatically delete from all the other partners – always check this)
- Create a new CSV which only has this row for this loan value (for type 16/17 and omits all other rows) and under the correct Quarter date
- When importing it – remember to set to APPEND (which is add onto the existing data) and its under the correct loan category
- Check the calc on all partners in MTD
b. Change the loan type to type ‘UNSPECIFIED’ when importing:
- Delete the affected specific loan entry on the PT expense screen – if its JOINT PROPERTY then make sure its gone from all partners (deleting it from the 1st client you uploaded the CSV should automatically delete from all the other partners – always check this)
- Create a new CSV which only has this row for this loan value (for type 16/17 and omits all other rows) and under the correct Quarter date
- When importing it – remember to set to APPEND (which is add onto the existing data) BUT change the category to type 0 UNSPECIFIED
- Check the calc on all partners in MTD – it will appear as ‘unspecified’ but will be showing as a expense
c. I do need it under loan type 16/17 (and not under unspecified):
- Delete the affected specific loan entry on the PT expense screen – if its JOINT PROPERTY then make sure its gone from all partners (deleting it from the 1st client you uploaded the CSV should automatically delete from all the other partners – always check this)
- Create a brand new property – make sure the name of it is similar to the property which needs the loan to show BUT do not create the JOINT link and 50/50 so its a solo property on its own
- Create a new CSV which only has this row for this loan value for one client only (for type 16/17 and omits all other rows) and under the correct Quarter date
- When importing it – remember to set to APPEND (which is add onto the existing data) and its under the correct loan category and MAKE sure its linked to the new solo property you created
- Check the calc on this one client in MTD
- Now do add this solo property for the other partners again, then do this import CSV for the other partners and check their MTD
d. If this affecting rent + bank interest values not showing correctly in a quarter – use the step c method – create a new property and ensure its not jointly linked and ensure it only has relevant data for this one client. If its Bank interest – break the join, and ensure it only has data relevant for the one client (then do the same for the other partners)
