Earnie IQ System Requirements

Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft are taking a gradual approach to mothballing their outdated SQL server versions.

As a result…

For security reasons it is no longer appropriate for IRIS products like Earnie IQ to be used with outdated versions of SQL server.

From April 2022 we will no longer be testing Earnie IQ against out of date SQL server products (2005 & 2008 followed by 2012 in July 22).

It is crucial that customers using these versions of SQL server find a suitable alternative to these products to avoid potential issues with system operation & updates.

Please note: It is the responsibility of our customers to maintain their SQL server in-line with the product requirements for each solution. Should anyone continue to use outdated and unsupported versions of SQL server, they do so at their own risk.

Microsoft are no longer supporting SQL versions 2005 & 2008 (with 2012 currently in extended support till July 22) and will continue to remove support for further versions as time progress. A breakdown of timings for each version are as follows:

There are a range of options available to impacted customers

Alternative 1

Upgrade to a supported version of SQL server (see table above) or SQL express and migrate your software

Alternative 2

Take on a hosting service (available from IRIS) providing an up to date version of SQL server

Alternative 3

Consider a managed service (available from IRIS), removing reliance on in-house technology
