IRIS Accounts Production
Charities SORP 2026
IRIS Accounts Production has been updated for the new Charities SORP 2026, effective for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026 (early adoption permitted) and applied alongside the FRS 102 Periodic Review. Key changes include:
- New revenue recognition model for income from non-exchange transactions, with updated data screens, notes and reports
- Updated lease accounting across the leasing note, accounting policy, balance sheet, cash flow statement and group structures
- Restructured Trustees’ Report, including Reference and administrative details (with Senior Management Team), governance, objectives, financial review and sustainability
- Revised Statement of Financial Activities (SOFA), such as fund movements
- Updated disclosures for social investments, supplier finance arrangements and charitable activities, plus early adoption and disclosure exemption options
- iXBRL tagging updated to reflect SORP 2026
Electronic submission of CIC accounts
Community Interest Company (CIC) accounts can now be prepared for electronic submission to Companies House via the Companies House Zip Service. Accounts are produced through the usual iXBRL route with the accompanying CIC34 report via Accounts Production (tagged to the 2025 taxonomies), and IRIS generates a single zip file containing both for filing utilising the Communication tab in Practice Management.
Academies Accounts Direction 2025 to 2026
IRIS has been updated in line with the Academies Accounts Direction (AAD) 2025 to 2026, including removal of the Trade Union facility time reference and references to the ESFA in the Trustees’ report, and updated wording in the Pensions and similar benefits note (opening and Teachers’ Pension Scheme sections).

Making Tax Digital
IRIS Accountancy Suite provides full end of year MTD ITSA functionality, and we continue to develop and build out the feature set with each release. This update includes the following improvements:
- Seafarer’s Deduction — We continue to expand the income sources and reliefs supported within the end of year submission. You can now submit Seafarer’s Deduction to HMRC directly from the Digital Tax Hub, allowing employment income to be fully captured for those claiming this relief.
- BSAS & Business Details Updates — Business Source Adjustable Summary (BSAS) submissions account for any year-end adjustments needed against a business source, calculated automatically by comparing data already submitted to HMRC against the year-end position in IRIS. This now supports updated Foreign Property schemas for tax year 2026-27 onwards.
- End of Year Manual Adjustments — MTD users can now make manual end of year adjustments to trade/property figures directly in Personal Tax. This is particularly useful where quarterly submissions have already been made, whether through IRIS or a third-party bookkeeping solution, and no accounts are being prepared. Adjustments can be entered manually without the need to return to the bookkeeping source, giving practices greater flexibility at year end.
Next year rate updates
The Individuals and Trusts next year tax rates for 2027 have been updated.
IRIS Business Tax
From 6th April 2026, the tax rate on new loans to participators has increased to 35.75%.

Tax Legislation and annual updates:

IRIS Practice Management
Data Mining IDV Codes
Practice Administrators can now data mine the IDV (Identity Verification) field within IRIS Practice Management. Previously there was no way to report on these codes in bulk, which made it hard to spot gaps or run compliance audits. This release adds a dedicated data mining capability for the field.
As an Admin user of the practice, you will be able to Data Mine IDV codes to generate a bulk list view, search by IDV Code, Filter by different status, and export results to a .CSV file.
Companies House Submission: CIC Accounts
For Practices submitting Community Interest Company (CIC) accounts, files produced by Accounts Production are now stored against the client in the Communications tab, ready for submission to Companies House.
- CIC accounts and CIC34 forms generated in Accounts Production are saved to the client record.
- All CIC-related files appear together under a single, dedicated filter, showing file name, type, and date stored.
- Documents added manually can also be tagged as CIC files, so they appear alongside the automatically generated ones.
- A one-click option to package these files into a Companies House in a ready to send ZIP file.
Resolved issues:
- Email bodies in the Comms tab now display as properly formatted text instead of raw HTML.
- Billing contact details in Data Mining now correctly show the Billing contact instead of the Main contact.
- Multiple Microsoft Word instances opening when bulk documents are generated.
