Problem

When printing user gets 'Error in creport.cls :: sub create report database: error no=70 permission denied'

Resolution

When you print a report in Bureau Payroll, Payroll Business, Earnie and Payroll Professional the first action of the software is to create a temporary database containing the report information.

Error 70 occurs when the software cannot create this temporary database.

The format of this temporary database is nnnnREPOy.MDB, where nnnn is the company number and y is the operator number.

This error can occur with Payroll Bureau or Business if a user clicks on the cross in the top right-hand corner to close a report preview screen before the report has been completely generated.

Potential reasons why the temporary database cannot be created:

Network Lock on file – This would need investigation by your network administrator

Insufficient user permissions This would need investigation by your network administrator

Local PC Lock on file – If payroll isn’t networked simply rebooting the PC should clear any locks in place.

If after rebooting you still get the error, try deleting the REPO database(s) manually – the format is nnnnREPOy.MDB, where nnnn is the company number and y is the operator number. E.g. for user 1 working on company 1 the file would be called 0001REPO1.MDB

Ensure all users are logged out of payroll before doing this.

The REPO file should be found in your payroll program folder, right click your shortcut, select “Properties” and click “Open File Location” to take you to the correct location.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a file called 0000repo.mdb in your program folder. This is related to the demonstration company information and will not be causing the error.
