Now that it is the turn of the smaller and micro businesses to start meeting their auto enrolment duties, The Pensions Regulator (TPR) have responded with a new essential 12-page guide to auto enrolment.

The new guide is much more user friendly than the older ones. This carries increased suitability for the smaller business who are more inclined to spend their time being passionate about their business rather than the workplace pension legislation that they are obliged to comply with.

The guide begins by explaining to employers which section applies to them based on the employees that they have. This helps to clear up initial confusion of whether the law applies to you and your business.

The guide then takes you through which processes you need to understand to prepare for auto enrolment and gain compliance with the workplace pension legislation. This includes confirming which employees you should contact, choosing a pension scheme and assessing your staff to see which ones need to be put into a pension.

There is also information on ongoing duties that you must adhere to in order to remain compliant with the legislation and ensure that your employees are correctly paying into a workplace pension scheme.
