We firmly believe that what sets our payroll outsourcing service, IRIS Payroll Services, apart from all other competitors is our people.

From extensive training that prepares staff to handle new payroll legislation to the customer-centric culture we’ve developed, the people behind IRIS Payroll Services are eager and ready to deliver the best possible experience.

However, for those who haven’t invested in our service and met the team, we appreciate that it can often feel like a faceless operation or like any other provider.

To try remedy this, I’ve kick-started this ‘meet the team’ blog series, where I’ve asked some of our amazing colleagues a few quick questions so you can get to know them a little better.

In this blog, I’ve spoken with our Senior Client Payroll Executive, Susan Luck.

Q: What led you to pursue a career in payroll?

“I’ve always loved working with people.

“When I first left school, I worked in retail, and a customer asked if I would be interested in working in payroll.

“So I took the chance, and after 20 years in the payroll industry, I’ve never looked back.”

Q: Can you tell us a little about your role and what you do on a daily basis?

“As a Senior Client Payroll Executive, I start the day by ensuring my team is ready to go.

“Then I start checking all incoming client emails, prioritising my workload for the day and processing payrolls.

“The payroll part is from start to finish, collecting or analysing information provided by clients to ensure it meets all legislation and statutory requirements, then returning it to the client for approval and submission to HMRC.

“During the day, I also assist my team leader and help the bureau with any queries or difficulties they may be experiencing.”

Q: Are there any common misconceptions about payroll outsourcing that you’d like to clear up?

“Some people have the idea that payroll outsourcing can be unreliable and not delivered on time.

“At IRIS, we aim to get all payrolls out promptly and accurately, ensuring that all the information processed meet legislation and statutory requirements.

“We offer expertise regarding all aspects of payroll, so our clients can go about their day without the stress and worry of whether their employees have been paid correctly.”

Q: What advice would you give to businesses considering outsourcing their payroll?

“Go for it!

“The process is easy, streamlined and no stress whatsoever – the amount of work it removes from customers is amazing.”

Q: How does technology play a role in streamlining payroll?

“Technology plays a huge role in streamlining payroll, as most calculations are done with the correct information entered.

“The rest relies on the expertise of the team and processors to ensure all calculations and requests meet requirements and are done promptly.”

Q: What do you think sets your team apart from others in the industry?

“IRIS has amazing employees who are dedicated to processing and delivering payroll to clients on time while ensuring 100% accuracy.

“We develop a friendly working relationship with our clients and treat them like we’re an extension of their team, which puts them at ease, building trust and exceeding service expectations.”

Challenging the misconceptions of offshoring

A huge thank you to Susan for speaking with us and sharing some insights into the elements that make our payroll outsourcing service, IRIS Payroll Services, so special.

Now, let me ask: do you have any concerns about payroll offshoring?

At IRIS Payroll Services, we use a mix of onshoring and offshoring.

It’s important to remember that all teams work together, adhering to the same accredited policies and processes to deliver a secure, high-quality payroll service.

However, we’ve noticed some misconceptions being spread in the industry.

To tackle confusion and help you better understand the implications of offshoring, we’ve created a handy guide.

Our new guide aims to demystify concerns surrounding offshoring and outline the benefits it delivers, covering:

  • What is offshoring?
  • Payroll security
  • Service expertise
  • Provider communication
  • And more!
