JTP Accountancy builds for the future with IRIS Outsourcing

JTP Accountancy, based in Eastbourne, offers accounting services to clients all over the UK. With a team of seven, the firm has made outsourcing part of the culture, giving the team space to grow, focus on senior hires and keep clients well looked after. Jack Porter, the founder of JTP Accountancy, explains, “Outsourcing gave us the flexibility to be able to increase or decrease the volume of the work we needed each month.” From the outset, IRIS Outsourcing was embedded into the firm’s operations, acting as an extension of the internal team.

One team, One IRIS

JTP Accountancy, an IRIS customer for five years, makes full use of the IRIS Accountancy Suite. Jack tells us, “We’re deeply embedded with IRIS, and IRIS Outsourcing in particular has become a vital part of our day-to-day operations.”

The outsourcing team do a lot of the work we do here, like the daily accounting. Then it goes over to be drafted for the year end, comes back and falls back into our workflows. So, they’re like the engine room of our business.

Jack noticed how smoothly the in-house and outsourced teams worked together, thanks to using the same IRIS software. Having everyone on the same system made collaboration a lot easier and more efficient. He says, “The communication is key, we are speaking regularly. The outsourced team run the workflows around what we've got going on here. IRIS has the most integrated accountancy product on the market, so that’s why we use it – for efficiencies. The fact that everyone can dial into the system definitely makes life easier.

Investing in expertise

IRIS Outsourcing has enabled JTP Accountancy to shift its hiring strategy, focusing on senior talent by filling roles typically occupied by trainees. This approach has allowed the firm to invest in experience and to focus on growth. Jack explains, “Before I had a team, it was just me. My first plug was outsourcing rather than another employee. So, it was really all about that growth as a firm.

By reallocating resources, outsourcing has become a cost-effective way to support the firm’s long-term goals. Jack adds, “We want more senior members of staff rather than junior so that we can offer our clients the level of service they expect. IRIS Outsourcing plugs our gap on the juniors to allow more senior staff.”

Technology-driven accounting

In line with Jack’s vision for JTP Accountancy, he started out with IRIS Outsourcing as his first employee. This led the way for how the firm works in the modern world. He tells us, “I’ve always had IRIS Outsourcing there. So, when anyone’s joined the firm, they’ve used it.” It’s become an integral part of the business, enabling the firm to focus on growth.

As a fully paperless business, Jack says that JTP Accountancy aren’t like other accountancy firms: “We’re different to your traditional accountancy firm because there is no change management here. I started as paperless and that’s exactly as I intend to go on. Our software and efficiencies are set up as I wanted it for the future because I knew what I wanted. That’s how it’s been, and it’s enabled growth.”

IRIS Outsourcing has provided JTP Accountancy the flexibility to operate according to their professional vision. Jack concludes: “IRIS Outsourcing enables growth – it’s as simple as that. It all boils down to capacity and growth. They’re two simple things but let’s not reinvent the wheel; IRIS Outsourcing means you can put money into other areas, and it breeds flexibility. I highly recommend it and look forward to our continued partnership.”
