Problem
When printing the client's Electronic Tax return one of the following validation error is being generated: The 'https://www.govtalk.gov.uk/taxation/SA/SA100/07-08/1:BusinessName' element is invalid - The value 'International sports management consultant' is invalid according to its datatype 'String' - The actual length is greater than the MaxLength value.
Resolution
This message indicates that the name of the clients Sole Trader business is too long to fit into the space available within box 1 on page SEF1.
Users are required to:
1. Log on to IRIS Personal Tax and select the client.
2. Select Trade, Profession or Vocation, Sole Trade or Partnership.
3. Double click on the Sole Trader shown in the top half of the screen.
4. Abbreviate the name of the business or the information can be replaced with the phrase ‘see additional information’, then a full disclosure can be entered into the additional information section.
