Known alert: 20/10/2025 – There has been a wider AWS outage (‘Amazon Web Services’ provides the infrastructure to websites and apps) which affected HMRC and services are being restored through the day. Please follow the steps below.
This 1000 error normally means a HMRC technical issue OR Internet outage (like AWS) which is blocking the online submission and may affect multiple clients, users and also different Tax programs, BT, P11D, PT, PTP, Keytime etc. HMRC usually tries to fix these 1000 errors as soon as they can.
Please find three options when using IAS:
- Try again later and submit
- Regenerate tax return and submit again later
- If the issue continues after several days then contact HMRC support and state the 1000 error.
HMRC service availability – (There can be a time delay for HMRC to update this, as Tax users will first report this and then for HMRC to check) https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/hm-revenue-and-customs-service-availability-and-issues
