Resolution
When you run the PT Tax comp – you have a Incorrect or Unknown ‘Tax deduction’ at the very bottom and you cannot find the source of the tax entries.
Run the Schedules of data report which lists all the tax paid. As Personal Tax doesn’t have a dedicated report on this.
If you still cannot find the entries then this has to be manually checked. The ‘Tax deduction’ is a accumulation of certain tax paid entries.
Here are a set of checks and examples where this comes from:
- Look for all income entries with ‘Tax paid’ entries
- Look under ‘Other income’ and tax paid entries
- Look under Capital gains and if they are ticked Foreign relief and then a entry was made under ‘special with holding tax’ value
- As test – remove some of tax paid entries and run the tax comp to see the change/reduction of the tax deduction
