Problem
Resolution
- MTD Error ‘RESOURCE_FORBIDDEN’
- MTD Error ‘MATCHING RESOURCE NOT FOUND’
RESOURCE_FORBIDDEN- You have set up a client up for MTD, accessed the ‘Digital Tax Hub’ on IRIS PT, then completed the HMRC process of verifying ID for your Agent Services account. Once it has been authorised, you are now receiving the error ‘RESOURCE_FORBIDDEN’ (The application is not subscribed to the API attempting to invoke) under PERIOD SETTINGS and no details coming from HMRC.
This error is when accessing the end of year submission, (Note: The APIs have been updated in the next version of IRIS eg after version 25.1.4.42), however this area is NOT required for the ‘in year activity’ which you would be submitting for.
NOTE: If you are trying to access eg 5th Apr 2025 period details but get the errors then it does not apply for it. You need to manually add the next period eg 5th Apr 2026 into PT and it will now work and not get the error and show all the periods. So add the next set of periods into PT and try again.
MATCHING RESOURCE NOT FOUND – When you access a clients trade and get a data retrieval error log with ‘Matching resource not found’. No quarterly obligation periods are listed under period settings. When you select ‘Retrieve periods from HMRC’ they just get another data retrieval error.
Fix: User must ensure that the affected Client has been registered with HMRC for MTD and then the user has authorised the IRIS software using the ASA credentials before retrieving the obligation periods.
NOTE: If you are trying to access eg 5th Apr 2025 period details but get the errors then it does not apply for it. You need to manually add the next period eg 5th Apr 2026 into PT and it will now work and not get the error and show all the periods. So add the next set of periods into PT and try again.
