Problem
When trying to perform payroll install/update user reports the following error:
Installer failed to initialize
Resolution
This error occurs when the user logged onto the PC doesn’t have the necessary permissions to perform the install.
This error will normally need to be looked at by your IT support, they will either need to give the user the appropriate permissions or perform the installation on behalf of the user.
You can also try the following:
1.Make sure payroll ISN’T running on any PC.
2.Right click on the installer and choose “Run as Administrator“
3.Turn off UAC (User Account Controls) look under Control Panel | User Accounts – Remember to restore to original setting once installation completed.
4.Check the permissions setting of the installation folder – Right click on the program folder > “Properties“. Look in the “Security” tab. We would recommend that all payroll users are listed individually in the “Group or user name” list and are flagged to have “Full Control“
5.You may need to disable your anti-virus or security software while running the installer, particularly “On – Access Scanning” – Remember to re activate once the installation is complete.
7.if installing to a network drive make sure you install to a mapped network drive (ie. P:Payroll) rather than a UNC path (ie \SERVER1DataPayroll)
If all else fails you will need to log into the PC as the Local/Domain administrator to complete the installer
