Problem

How can I insert tags into a Fees Word template? For example, I would like my template to have the client's identifier and the partner identifier as a reference. How do I add these tags to the template?

Resolution

To add tags in a Word template, there are two stages:
  • Select the tags in the ‘Tag Selection’ screen.
  • Add the tags to the Word template itself. Select the tags in the tag selection screen The ‘Tag Selection’ screen opens at the same time as the Word document template. At this point both screens can be used simultaneously to create and save the template. The ‘Tag Selection’ screen has two main functions:
  • To choose which tags are available to merge into the letter template from the database,
  • To save the template once it has been written. To select the tags in the ‘Tag Selection’ screen:
  • Log into IRIS Fees, as MASTER, from IRIS Main Menu.
  • Select: Options | Documents | then click ‘Maintain templates’
  • In the left hand pane highlight the appropriate template folder, and then on the right hand pane, highlight your template.
  • Click on the ‘Edit’ button to edit the template (note: it is not possible to make changes to the standard IRIS templates – they will be opened in display only mode). The template will then be displayed.
  • Toggle on the Field codes (Press ALT F9 on your keyboard). For information of how to turn on field codes please refer to KB IAS-11939.
  • Minimize Word , the ‘Tag Selection’ screen will be displayed.
  • Any tags that need to be inserted can be chosen via the ‘Tag Selection’ screen. These are then available to be entered in Word.
  • To select the tags in the ‘Tag Selection’ screen. For example, to select the client’s identifier and the partner identifier, you would need to open the following folders: a. The Particular Client | Common | place a tick next to IRIS Client Identifier b. The Particular Client | Common | Partner responsible for Client | place a tick next to Identifier within IRIS
  • Click on the ‘Refresh’ button.
  • Maximise Word.
  • Place the cursor where you would like to enter the tag. For example, to enter the Client ID, you would place the cursor as the top of the page. Note: To check for versions of Word, Click on Help | About when in the Word Document. Add the tages to the word template For versions of MS Word 2007 & 2010
  • Click on the ‘Mailings’ tab | in the ‘Write & Insert Fields’ section, click on the ‘Insert Merge Field’ down arrow.
  • Click on the tag that you would like to enter in the document. For example the Client Identifier, this will be displayed as LMCLIrisIdentifier
  • This will be displayed in the document as { MERGEFIELD LMCLIrisIdentifier }
  • Place your cursor where you would like to add the Partner Identifier .
  • Click on the ‘Mailings’ tab | in the ‘Write & Insert Fields’ section, click on the ‘Insert Merge Field’ down arrow.
  • Click on the tag that you would like to enter in the document. For example the Partner Identifier, this will be displayed as LMCLPartnerIdentifier.
  • Once all the tags have been entered in the document, minimize Word.
