Problem
When printing the clients Electronic Tax return the following validation error is generated: "The 'https://www.govtalk.gov.uk/taxation/SA/SA100/07-08/1:EmployersName' element is invalid - The value 'Berkshire county council planning office' is invalid according to its datatype 'String' - The actual length is greater than the MaxLength value".
Resolution
This message indicates that the name of the employer is to long to fit within the space available on the Tax Return, in this example the employer name Berkshire county council planning office is too long. The name could be abbreviated or it can be removed and replaced with the words ‘see additional information’, a full disclosure of the name can then be made within the additional information box.
Users are required to:
1. Log on to IRIS Personal Tax and select the client.
2. Select Employment, click Earnings/Foreign Earnings.
3. Double click on the name of the employer which is displayed on the right side of the screen, click View.
4. Edit the Business name, click Save then Close.
