P11D class 1a NIC is not being calculated on telephone benefits

To view all expense codes and whether Class 1a is relevant please do the following:- Choose the expenses on the right hand side within P11d Within the screen that shows the benefit click on the ? at the top and this will bring up another screen showing all the relevant codes and whether Class 1a is relevant or not. Benefit No’s 23 and 24 are not subject to class 1a NIC, if class 1a NIC is to be charged, for example the phone contract is between the employee and the phone company, please enter this using an alternative benefit number such as type Zero. Users are required to: 1. Log on to IRIS P11D, select the employer and relevant employee. 2. From the Edit menu, select Employment Benefits. 3. Enter the telephone benefit using benefit number 0 and enter a Y in the field for Class 1a NIC.
