Exception report stating that the balance sheet doesn't balance

his exception report is occurring due to a restriction within the HMRC gateway system which prevents the Tax Return from being filed in cases where box 98 on page SEF5 has not been completed when there are figures within boxes 94- 97. Users are required to either complete the balance at start of period section or select to not submit the balance sheet which can be done as follows: 1. Log on to IRIS Personal Tax and select the client. 2. Click on Trade Profession of Vocation then click Sole Trade or Partnership. 3. Double click on the Account Period located in the bottom half of the screen to the right. 4. Click the Business Details tab, remove the option to include balance sheet option then click OK. Note that to enter an amount into the balance at start of period this can be done by clicking on the Balance Sheet tab at step 4 above
