Upgrading IRIS Docs

When upgrading IRIS Docs, it is possible to install the latest version without having to do the incremental updates. For example, if a client is on IRIS Docs 6.20, they can jump straight to the latest version.

Before starting

Prior to upgrading the following information/steps need to be identified/followed:

  • Identify the service account used for the INVU Services:
    • Open services.msc on the Docs server
    • Locate Invu V6 Business Engine
    • Note the username in the “Log On As” column
  • Identify the service account password
If you do not have a note of the password for this account, reset it via active directory (or equivalent) and then put the new password on all of the services which start INVU on the server
  • Download the Docs upgrade file:
    https://www.iris.co.uk/support/iris-accountancy-suite-support/as-downloads/
  • Backup the IRIS Docs database
    • Open SQL Server Management Studio
    • Connect to your SQL Server instance
    • Expand Databases
    • Right-click the database, select Tasks | Back Up….
    • Under Destination, confirm that the “Back up to:” field reads as disk and that the path for your backup is correct
If you need to change the path, Click Remove to remove the existing path, and then Add to type in a new path
    • Click OK

  2. Open the OpenSpace Connector sub-folder
  3. Run the Iris OpenSpace Connector Setup file
  4. Click Next
  5. Select an install location & click Next (the default location is the same as the screenshot)
  6. Enter the Instance location & Database name for the Iris Accountancy Suite database
If you are unsure what to enter, the best way to check is to open the Iris Accountancy Suite main menu | Select Help | About | Details tab | “SQL Server” & “Database” are the 3rd entries on the left side
