Nixon Hire is the trading name of John Nixon Ltd, a leading provider of modular, renewable energy, site accommodation and welfare and strategic service solutions to the hire industry. Now in business for over 55 years, the team recently moved from multiple HR and payroll systems to IRIS Cascade HRi.

Simplifying the way you manage HR

Life before Cascade HRi was a bundle of admin tasks for Nixon Hire, which took up valuable time for the company. Neil Caddle, HR Advisor at Nixon Hire tells us, “We were duplicating a lot of work, our processes were overly complicated, we were having to manually do a lot of things ourselves and be in constant communication with our payroll administrator. The HR system we used was very limited in terms of functionality – all our employees could see was their holiday. The system wasn’t very flexible in regards to what we could let managers see or do which meant the HR team was picking up a lot of the work. The system was very dated.”

Since adopting Cascade HRi, Nixon Hire asks themselves why they didn’t move to Cascade sooner! Neil says, “For Alison, who runs the payroll, introducing Cascade HRi has made a world of difference! She has halved the amount of time she had to spend running payroll, and we no longer have to give her updates – the system does it all for us! We do regularly ask ourselves why we didn’t move to Cascade sooner!”

How Nixon Hire maximised engagement

IRIS Cascade HRi has widened the horizon for many employees at Nixon Hire. With greater visibility over the HR system, employees are looking to expand their potential by exploring other benefits of the system. Neil tells us, “Cascade is a really great system. Our employees love how much they are able to do and everything they can see, and our managers are more engaged than ever, asking us what else they can do with it. We’re now working more closely with them to make those things happen which is a fantastic result and it’s great to see staff so engaged with the software we’re using!”

With administrative tasks reduced, Cascade HRi gave Nixon Hire more time to tend to the most important parts of the business. Neil happily tells us, “The integration between HR and payroll immediately changed the way we work, giving us the time back to work on higher-value projects.”
