Problem
When trying to backup IRIS SQL using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (or Management Studio Express) the following message can be shown: Failed to connect to server error 40 error 2, SQL Backup Error
Resolution
This kind of message can be caused by the SQL Services not being started or running correctly. Stopping then starting all SQL Services should resolve the issue.
