IRIS Personal Tax- E-checklist generate 'Error generating XML document'

When you try and generate a E-checklist for a client and get this warning – also if it actually generates a echecklist, then open it – if its empty of data eg white screen then try the steps below:

Follow these steps below to rectify the affected client

Note: You will need to first identify which specific client gets this warning if you are running it for ALL clients or Range of clients:

1. At top of PT- Select the tax year 2008 (this year enables the affected area in capital assets) and select ‘Leave’ to the question “Would you like to enter new data…?”.
2. Select Edit and Capital Assets
3. Edit the shareholding entry ( you need to open all of the shares to do this)
4. Change Asset Use to ‘Non-Business’ instead of shared and click OK.
5. Change back to your current tax year.
6. You should now be able to generate the E-Checklist without error.
7. If you have NO share data showing under step 3) in 2008 then contact IRIS Tax Support and state there is no share data and you tried this KB
