Change is an inevitable part of business life. The drivers for change are all around us from technological innovation to government policy to the skill set of our employees and the expectations of our customers. Those organisations that recognise these demands and adopt quickest will be the most successful.
At IRIS World 2018 change was a major theme running through the day. We discussed recent changes, change that was just about to happen (Making Tax Digital) and Lee Hawksworth, HMRC's Head of Software Developer Collaboration, discussed what lies beyond Making Tax Digital for the Government and how HMRC is already looking at new technologies to increase its digital profile.
We also introduced Project Darwin – the evolution of the IRIS Accountancy Suite and demonstrated a proof of concept. Our ambition for Project Darwin is to create new solutions and unlock new features and capabilities of our existing solutions.
Over the last 6 months our ideas have developed to a point where we now need your assistance. We are looking for users to be involved in conversations with us to understand requirements and pain points, usability testing, testing of prototypes, surveys, user group sessions.
We want to you, our users, to shape our development efforts from the initial designs and at every stage through the development process to launch, so that we are building solutions that are right for our customers and help to make their lives easier.
We want accountants to be able to share their views with us and help us build the products they have always wanted - developing products that focus on our customers, ensuring they are at the centre of our design.
The emerging economy will introduce significant challenges to all of us. Our goal should be more than surviving, our aim should be Thriving in the Digital Economy.
