Problem
How do I change the Date format in an Automail letter? After generating an Automail letter you may realise that you would like the date format to be in words rather then figures. For example, displayed date would be 01/01/08 and the date that you would like to see on a Client letter would be 1 January 2008.
Resolution
To change the format of the date:
Log on to IRIS AutoMail from the IRIS Main Menu
The letter request Browser will be displayed. Click on the Templates button.
The AutoMail – Letter Template Maintenance Screen will be displayed. Highlight the template that you would like to change and click on the Edit button
Place your cursor on the date that would like to change.
Note: To check for versions of Word, Click on Help | About when in the Word Document.
For MS Word 2007 & 2010:
Toggle Field codes on to view Field Format. i.e. on the keyboard press ALT + F9 (Or Click on the Office button | Word Options |Advanced | under “Show Document Content” heading, Place a tick on “Show Field Codes instead of their values” | OK) .
On the template, place the cursor on a blank line
Click on Insert tab. In the ‘Text’ section click on the Quick Parts button. From the drop down list Select ‘Field’
In the ‘Categories’ field select ‘Date and Time’ from the drop down list
In the ‘Field Names’ field, click on ‘SaveDate’
Under Field Properties (Date Formats), select the Date format that you would like. For example: Select 1 January 2008
NOTE: In the Date Format Field, dd MMMM YYYY will be displayed, suggesting that, that is the format the dates will be displayed in. Click on OK.
Click on the OK button to confirm your selection
The Date on your Word document will be displayed in the following format: {SAVEDATE \@ “dd MMMM yyyy” \* MERGEFORMAT}
Minimize Word and Click on the Save button in the Tag Selection Screen .
