Problem

When trying to open IRIS the following error occurs: CoreEmulation Failed to start – Login Time Out Expired This happens when there is an issue connecting to the server from the Workstation, hence why it is timing out. It is most likely one of two things: - Antivirus software is attempting to scan the connection to the server, causing the communication to stall and eventually timing out. - The incorrect protocols are active, standalone protocols are in place when network protocols must be in place.

Resolution

First you will need to test to see whether or not your antivirus software is stalling connection from your workstation, to the server. An easy test would be to turn off the antivirus temporarily for the mean time. If you find you can now connect, then exceptions must be made in the antivirus software. If this does not solve your issues then please follow steps below: Go to C:WindowssysWOW64 and find “Cliconfg”. Here you can force the correct protocols to ensure connect to the server. Select “Named Pipes” and then select “Enable>>” Select TCP/IP and then select “Enable>>” Now the correct protocols are in place for a connection from the Workstation to the Server.
